Frequently Asked Questions

Why has Etihad Airways launched a new baggage policy?

During the development of Fare Choices it became clear that our baggage policy was no longer aligned with the needs of our guests. This launch allows us to extend the ‘Piece concept’ (already in place for flights to and from the US, Canada and Brazil) to more markets. This is now the most popular policy for airlines globally because it is easier for customers to understand. Instead of weight, the airline offers a number of bags, each with a maximum weight of 23kg or 32kg each.

For Etihad, the other major advantage is alignment with the Etihad Airways Partner airlines. Most use the Piece Concept, and by matching their strategy we are able to take another step on the path to offering genuinely seamless travel across the group.
