The Independent Flight Attendant’s Organization (UFO) has announced strike action for all Lufthansa flights from/ to Frankfurt and Dusseldorf on Saturday, 7.11.2015 between 6.00 and 23.00 for all flights from/to Dusseldorf and for all flights operated with A319, A320, A321 and B737 from/to Frankfurt.

Unfortunately, flight cancellations from / to Frankfurt and Düsseldorf are to be expected for domestic and continental flights.

Flights operated by Lufthansa CityLine, Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines are not affected by potential strike actions and will therefore run as planned.

Lufthansa will do its utmost to keep the effects of a strike to a minimum and to inform passengers as soon as possible. For that reason, Lufthansa requests all passengers early on to stay up-to-date by checking the flight status on LH.com.

Lufthansa regrets any inconveniences caused by the strike.

Has your flight not been cancelled?

Passengers whose flights have not been cancelled and are in possession of Lufthansa/SWISS/Austrian Airlines of Brussels Airlines tickets for flights between 6.11.2015 and 13.11.2015 from/via Frankfurt/München/Düsseldorf, can rebook once free of charge online under My bookings.

The following conditions must be observed:
- Rebooking within the same booking class
- Tickets must be issued on/before 6.11.2015
- New date of travel must be on/before 28.2.2016
- Change of origin/destination and class of service/compartment are not permitted
- For all other ticket conditions, original fare conditions apply

Travel Agency bookings

Lufthansa passengers who have booked through a tour operator or travel agency are requested to contact the tour operator / travel agency where the booking was made directly.

Flights within Germany - Use of Deutsche Bahn

Train voucher
Passengers travelling within Germany whose flights were cancelled can use trains of Deutsche Bahn. The flight ticket can be converted into a train ticket of Deutsche Bahn here.

If it is not possible to convert the ticket due to time constraints, we recommend that a regular train ticket is purchased.

Refund of purchased train ticket

If you have purchased a train ticket from Deutsche Bahn and would like to have this refunded, we ask for your kind understanding that in case of a retro-active refund, the value of the unused flight coupon is applicable. We also request to apply for a refund of your ticket with your issuing office after completion of your trip.

There may be an increased number of passengers on the trains of Deutsche Bahn. Updated information is available under Bahn Information or on the mobile site m.bahn.de.

New EU requirement concerning passport validity for non-EU citizens

Since 19 July 2013 non-EU citizens entering the Schengen Area must carry a passport with them which will be valid for at least three months after the date they leave the Schengen Area. This applies to entry to the Schengen area by non-EU citizens, with the exception of citizens from Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Air Passenger Duty (APD): Who is exempt from paying APD?

UK Air Passenger Duty has been abolished for children aged 2 to 11 years travelling in economy class on all flights departing UK airports. In addition it has been abolished for young persons aged 12 to 15 years when travelling in economy class, on all flights departing UK airports on or after 1st March 2016. Secure Flight

For flights to the USA additional personal information must be provided under the Secure Flight Program of the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This regulation also applies to overflights of US territory, i.e. flights from/to, for example, Canada, Mexico and other Central-American countries, which are scheduled to fly into US airspace.

Regulations for visa-free entry to the USA

For travel in the USA it is mandatory to register online. In addition airlines are required to carry out ESTA checks: the transport of passengers wishing to enter the USA without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program will be prohibited if passengers have not received an electronic entry permit in advance from the US authorities. Online registration is through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization - known as "ESTA" for short. Please note that without a visa or ESTA registration you will no longer be able to board your flight to the USA.
